What this site stores on your device
Trackdown keeps your progress for today's puzzle and your play statistics (games played, games solved, current streak) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Results you send us
When you finish a daily puzzle, the site sends the day, whether you solved it and how many guesses it took, together with a random identifier stored in your browser so you are only counted once per day. That identifier is not linked to you. The totals power the "how everyone did" line on the result card. When you finish a friend's challenge and choose to send your result, the name you type (if any) and your result are stored so the person who set the challenge can see them.
What we collect
We do not have accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to measure traffic. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Third-party content
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
- Song previews are streamed from Deezer only when you press play after a round ends. Deezer receives your IP address at that point.
- Analytics. We count visits and game events (a puzzle started, solved or given up, and how many guesses it took) using Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami. Neither sets cookies or stores anything that identifies you; they record the page, the event, and coarse details such as country and browser type.
- Advertising. If adverts are shown, they are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to personalise adverts and measure them. Visitors in the UK and EU are asked for consent before any advertising cookies are set, and can withdraw it at any time through the same prompt. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Since we hold none ourselves, requests about advertising cookies are best made through the consent prompt or your browser settings. For anything else, contact us at the address below.
